Meaning of the word Meraj is going upward. Meraj in Arabic means stairs. In Persian it means ascend to the world of the upper world. Merajs have special significance in religion in Islam. On the night of Meraj, the Prophet (peace be upon him) slept in the house of Um Hani bint Abu Talib. Suddenly, Hazrat Gabriel came and took Rasul to the mosque.
